Pennywell
Edinburgh
Pennywell Living is part of the City of Edinburgh Council’s ambitious 21st Century Homes project which aims to create high-quality social housing by developing brownfield sites across the capital. It aims to deliver close to 1000 mixed tenure homes alongside enhanced local amenities.
Winning the City Housing Regeneration of the Year at the 2016 Scottish Property Awards, Pennywell was recognised for an inspirational approach to delivering social housing and regeneration of the local area.
The idea of community sits at the core of Pennywell and homes will continue to be developed until 2023, with the vision for the area being a place to work, shop, live, and visit. There is a focus on safety and accessibility within the development which is one of Scotland’s largest housing-led regeneration projects.
In addition to providing new homes, Urban Union and the City of Edinburgh Council are working closely with the local Pennywell community to provide new opportunities for residents. Most recently the a £3000 ‘Creative Community Chest’ fund was launched in October 2022 to support micro projects in the community that deliver creative and engaging content for locals.
