Trading Up – The Wellbeing Economy in Scotland’s International Trade Policy
Monday 11th December 2023, 10am – 11amÂ
In 2021 the Scottish Government published the Vision for Trade, setting out five principles of Inclusive Growth, Wellbeing, Sustainability, Net Zero and Good Governance, which underpin our trade decisions and relationships.
The Vision for Trade recognises that the impacts of trade policy is not neutral, depending on geographic location, income, gender, ethnicity, position in the labour market, educational level and age, among other factors. Through the implementation of Vision the team has been working to understand how these impacts are felt in Scotland including considering policy measures that can be developed to address those impacts.
This session will cover progress to date, with a focus on links to regional economic development and will ask stakeholders attending to consider connections or collaboration opportunities relevant to their own work.
Panel:
- Ronan Mclaughlin, Policy Adviser, Trade Strategy – Trade Policy Division, Scottish Government
- Monika Dybowski, Policy Adviser, Trade Strategy – Trade Policy Division, Scottish Government
